chef Tony Tobin takes over at
The Dining Room
If
you you're already a fan of
Tobin's you may be wondering
what all this is about. Surely,
Tobin is already the Head Chef
at The Dining Room, the destination
restaurant in Reigate, not
far from Gatwick International
Airport? Well, yes, but
the restaurant was owned by
someone else. Now Tobin, who
was a former head chef to Nico
Ladenis, and who has risen
to fame through appearances
on Ready, Steady, Cook and
the Carlton Food Channel -
is to re-launch the restaurant
as chef-patron under his own
name.
The redesigned restaurant is now called Tony
Tobin @ The Dining Room and
it will offer modern British food, enhanced with the addition of subtle flavours
from across the world. The wine list will feature a range from around the
world, with plenty of New World influence, including a special reserve list
compiled mainly of fine French and Italian wines. The service style will be
personal and attentive.

to the backing of Peter Wood
- the insurance legend who
rose to fame in the 1990s
after founding
Direct Line. Peter Wood discovered Tobin's cooking by chance in 2001
and enjoyed it enough to help fund this joint venture a year later.
Tony Tobin told Dine Online: "The menu will use British food as the building
blocks for dishes which will be given a more exciting edge with hints of
flavours usually found in continental dishes.
"
We intend to offer people all the benefits of a top London restaurant - excellent
food and quality service - in a wonderful environment that is free of the
pressures of the capital." But let the menus speak for themselves...
