Great place. I have
been already 4 times at this restaurant
since
its
opening on the 7th of July 2007.
The quality has always been top
notch -
so far I've never had a bad surprise
ordering from the (long) menu of
Portuguese specialties.
The Algarve Restaurant
has a real friendly feel to it
- always fairly
busy
and the owner is a real gem. There's
a good mix of families, big tables,
and a few people drinking at the
bar.
For food - there
really a lot to choose from. I
suggest Cataplana
(Algarve
speciality) - with a choice of
seafood, fish or meats cooked on
a pan
beautifully crafted in copper.
Desserts are all homemade and are
delicious.
Bottom line - great food, friendly
service, terrific value.

Went there last Thursday after
it recently opened and was
really impressed. The staff were
so charming and within minutes
of sitting
down we were given complimentary
hot bread, pates and a delicious
cheese.
The sea bass was absolutely divine,
and so fresh. the house wine
was delicious and the bill a
very acceptable £40
for two. Highly recommended.

My wife and I enjoyed an excellent
lunch at the Algarve restaurant
in Trinity Road, Wandsworth (opposite
the County Arms and the top of
Magdalen Road) on Sunday, 19 August
2007. Everything is Portuguese-flavoured
from the typical blue painted tiles
to the menu and the wine list,
not forgetting the outstandingly
friendly, helpful owner and his
family. We started with appetite-whetting
fresh tomato bread with olives
and goat's cheese, followed by
the house speciality, Cataplanas,
traditional Portuguese stew cooked
and served in a splendid copper
pan -- we chose the mixed shell-fish
stew, and we shall definitely return
for the mixed fish, chicken and
seafood, and mixed meat variations
on the Cataplanas theme. At £32
for two this was excellent value,
a wonderful, lavish and tasty meal
in itself, long to be remembered.
The Estaç ão de Douro
white wine from the Douro river
area of Portugal (where we spent
last Christmas on a delightful
river cruise) was another bargain
at £12.50 -- crisp, fruity,
chilled to perfection (not half-frozen
as so often in lesser establishments),
and dry as a bone, perfect for
sea-food (or indeed for just about
anything else). Service was prompt,
friendly and efficient. The whole
meal, including the wine, service
and good coffee to finish, came
to just under £60 for the
two of us, a snip.
After only six weeks in operation
and spanking new with all new modern
furniture and decor, the restaurant
has imaginative plans for set-price
wine-tasting evenings (to include
a prix fixe dinner), musical evenings,
and a take-out service for the
area to include delivery, and collection
for all washing-up! This is a gem
of a place which deserves to succeed.
Give it a try! It's open every
evening and from 12 noon at week-ends:
020 8875 0313. No, I don't have
shares in it and I'm not being
paid to write this....
