CHIANTISHIRE WINES

At Chiantishire Wines we specialise in good and fine quality wines from Central Italy with a particular leaning towards Tuscany and Umbria. We do not, however, neglect the wines of Latium, the Marches and Abruzzo, so long as they meet our exacting quality criteria.

Our choice is all about quality. Our site is not about having 10,000, 4,000 or even 1,000 wines, but only 60 that we know well. All our wines have been lovingly made to match the integrity of a beautiful and civilised part of the world. It is a world where a respect for tradition, a love of wine, and inspired but careful innovation has brought about an extraordinary renaissance in quality winemaking.

We Brits have a long-standing love affair with Tuscany and Umbria. We find the gentle but stunning countryside, honest food and delicious wines irresistible, and we appreciate the wholehearted welcome of the local community.

We list many great winemakers in Tuscany, the legendary Lungarotti in Umbria, Riccardo Cotarella and Antonio Pulcini in Latium. Cotarella is creating miracles at Falesco and Cerveteri, and Pulcini makes characterful unctuous wines amidst a sea of mediocrity.

From the Marches we bring you two Verdicchios of real merit from Colonnara, and in Abruzzo quality reds at most reasonable prices from Casal Thaulero.

Our list is an invitation to be adventurous and to enjoy the unique selection of wines that we offer There will be good wines you know and good wines you don’t know.
