A Touch of the Mediterranean in Kensington
Adam Kingl reports on L'Anis...but see update below

Stop me if you've heard of any of these places: Al Duca, Zaika, Il Forno, El Rincon. If you live in London, you must recognise at least one of these. And in the cut-throat environment of London dining, it speaks worlds that all of these award-winning, vastly different, and reasonably priced restaurants are owned by the same consortium - Cuisine Collection. This stable, owned by Claudio Pulze and Raj Sharma, found an effective formula which doesn't seem formulaic to the consumer. Take talented, young chefs of various disciplines, afford them the freedom to be creative while keeping an eye on prices, and emphasise fresh produce and healthy cuisine. The result has been virtually fool-proof thus far, and the Collection has a new diamond-in-the-rough coming into its own - L'Anis. The restaurant is located across the street from Kensington Gardens in yet another former bank. A whiff of the fiduciary still lingers in the carved wood and stone walls.

Update August 2001: The award winning Indian restaurant, Zaika has now moved to this site
