Phew! all the
existing two and three star restaurants
remain as they were.
But, the movements of the up and
coming chefs, those in the one star
category, have meant a few places
have been relegated. But does it
really matter. We think two of the
restaurants Michelin has dropped
have now recovered from their transitional
phase, see below.

And now for the sob stuff...
The Four Seasons Restaurant on Hyde Park Corner lost its star follwing
chef Jean-Christophe Novelli's departure to set up his award winning restaurant
Maison Novelli. Then Gary Rhodes, the spikey haired
TV star left The Greenhouse, and nowtheir star has
gone. I think that's sad; we visited theGreenhouse very recently, and we awarded
it our accolade for theBest Modern British Restaurant of 1996. We also greatly
enjoyed just before Christmas. By the time we visited both these restaurants,
the various chef changes had settled down, and we think they are both very well
worth recommending.
